Word Vancouver Literary Festival

We are excited to share that Word Vancouver’s Reading & Writing Festival, Western Canada’s largest free literary festival, is celebrating its 30th year. Our guest Indigenous curator is Michelle Cyca and our guest 2SLGBTQIA+ curator is Jen Currin. The main event is taking place September 28 at UBC Robson Square. The full lineup of events is available on the Word Vancouver website. Over 45 artisans and exhibitors, including SAD Magazine, have already signed on to share their work on the big day. Our official booksellers this year will be Cross & Crows Books.

With over 40 events at the festival this year there is sure to be something for everyone. There are fiction, non-fiction, writing craft workshops, poetry, the Poetry Bus, and a silent auction. Some of the highlights include panel discussions on climate change, decolonizing the media, a whimsical discussion of romance on the page and on-screen, and a conversation with famed jazz musician Nikita Carter. This year there are new opportunities to buy 50-50 tickets online (https://wordvancouver.rafflenexus.com) and for writers to reflect in our silent writing room.

Join us as a guest or sign up to volunteer. Come on down and enjoy this celebration of reading and writing.
