5 Designers To See This VFW F/W 2019
/Expect no less than a local 17-year old returning for her second season this Vancouver Fashion Week, March 18 to 24, which has always highlighted the talent of emerging designers.
Here are 5 designers to see this VFW:
Emi Jingu: Designer Emi Jinju has artfully merged her passion for balloon art with fashion. Creating intricate pieces made entirely of balloons, she held her first world tour visiting fashion weeks in New York, Milan and Paris prior to landing here for VFW.
CRAZYYABAI: Ming Lim is an up-and-coming 17-year old high school senior who debuted her first collection at VFW last season, and who’s back to showcase her outstanding talents again with her new line that is inspired by sophrosyne, or the idea of self-peace.
C'EST D: New York designer Doyeon Yoni Yu’s goal is to empower women to love their bodies, while taking a stand against ‘fat’ stigma. Her colourful and playful collection celebrates body equality and provides options for all women, especially those who have been traditionally excluded from the fashion industry.
Emelia’s Swimwear: Designed and made in Canada using sustainable techno-fabric, Emelia goes the extra ‘eco-mile’ by donating 3% of all her profits to organizations that help keep beaches and oceans clean.
Yonfa: Fuelled by the belief that key pieces and accessories can change an entire look, Kim Yonghwa is showcasing her new line during VFW’s Opening Gala on March 18. Her collection focuses on this year’s key colours: brown and blue, and includes variations of outerwear, knits and shirts.
