Vancouver, BC.—Acclaimed director and graduate Kim Collier returns to Studio 58 to direct Everybody, a wry and fresh take on the 15th century morality play Everyman written by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins.
In this 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama finalist, the character of "Everybody” (chosen from amongst the cast by lottery at each performance) has been summoned by “Death” to account for their life. Along their journey they meet characters such as "Friendship", "Love", and "Strength" as they reflect on the human condition and invite the audience to the same. Featuring 27 actors and a vocal score by Andrew Creeggan (Barenaked Ladies) this ensemble production embraces the questions of our day in a full-on kinetic and vocal embodiment of Jacobs-Jenkins’ poetic and unexpectedly funny text.
Collier says, “Everybody is at once profound and fun; delving into how we wrestle with life in the face of death. It’s great to be back at Studio 58, my alma mater, working with this inspired group of theatre makers.”
