The Sonic Boom Music Festival is a four-day festival of exceptional contemporary classical (new) music created by BC’s finest composers, and performed by some of this province’s best musicians. Produced by Vancouver ProMusica and now in its 33rd year, the festival presents four evenings of inspired concerts and a Sunday afternoon student composer master class.
Every year, the festival spotlights both a Featured Artist and an Ensemble in Residence along with a talented mix of ensembles of one to four players performing dozens of new works by emerging and established West Coast composers. Sonic Boom's 2020 Featured Artist is keyboard virtuoso Rachel Kiyo Iwassa, and the critically acclaimed Pacific Baroque Orchestra is the Ensemble in Residence.
This year's concerts will be presented in the acoustic excellence of Pyatt Hall, the Koerner Recital Hall in the Vancouver Academy of Music, and the Orpheum Annex. The masterclass will be held in the Martha Lou Henley Classroom at the VSO School of Music.
Tickets: $18 Students, $22 General | Festival Pass: $55
