Smash Comedy Festival: Vancouver’s women(+) in comedy festival

Produced by Nasty Women Comedy, the second annual Smash Comedy Festival is a three-day comedy festival spotlighting Vancouver’s best and brightest women/trans/femme/plus performers. Smash Comedy Festival is guaranteed to be a hilarious time, combining wildly funny, feminist-forward comedy from an elite squad of sketch, improv and stand-up comedians, PLUS writing and improv workshops, a ‘90s dance party and killer drag performances.

It’s going to be a very special weekend featuring some of the city’s funniest and hardest working individuals, all in support of sending underrepresented kids to Improv Camp for the upcoming 2020 season.

THE SCHEDULE

THURSDAY NIGHT (Jan 23)

A very special edition of Nasty Women’s monthly improv show at the Biltmore Cabaret will kick off the weekend, featuring standup by Julie Kim and performances by the one and only Lil Clitty and Vancouver's Women's Comedy Choir, followed by dancing all night long to a Spice Girls-heavy setlist.

FRIDAY NIGHT (Jan 24)

Over at Little Mountain Gallery, we’re starting the night off with a special edition of duo-sketch-comedy spectacular Sidekicks, and then get right into two more hot shows: a hilarious sleepover-themed improv show with a one-night-only cast of the city’s best WTF performers, and a killer standup comedy late-show, curated and hosted by Emma Cooper!

SATURDAY NIGHT (JAN 25)

Everyone’s welcome at our early-bird jam show to get warmed up before two MORE hot shows with another amazing crew representing the city’s finest in comedy, PLUS a not-so-secret late-late drag show featuring Vancouver’s coolest genderqueer artists, drag kings, hyperqueens and even comedians.

PLUS improv and writing workshops on Friday and Saturday, too!
