May 17-20th and 24th, The Cinematheque will be screening the Vancouver premiere of Black Mother, a new documentary by acclaimed New York-based photographer Khalik Allah (the director of Beyoncé'sLemonade). It's a pilgrimage through Jamaican culture and history, as well as a poetic homage to Black womanhood and maternity. The film's movements are marked by the trimesters of a pregnancy.
