Vancouver Latin American Cultural Centre presents Aquarela do Brasil: An Explosive Celebration of Music and DanceNov. 8­­–9, 2018 at the Vancouver Playhouse. Experience a passionate evening of red-hot performances celebrating the profound impact Brazilian music has on the international music scene. This energetic concert travels from Rio's exuberant carnaval music to Bahia's infectious samba-reggae to the hyper-driven steps of Recife's frevo, the melancholic choro and the intimate Bossa Nova. Vancouver-based world music percussionist-producer Sal Ferreras will lead an ensemble of award-winning performers including Brazilian guitarist Celso Machado, saxophonist Tom Keenlyside, bassist Jodi Proznick, pianist Miles Black, Brazilian tambourine sensation Liam MacDonald, trombonist Rod Murray, trumpeter and bandleader John Korsrud, performing alongside the infectious energy and exuberance of the dancers and drummers of Aché Brasil.
