Modern Whore - Vancouver Launch

  • Vancouver Public Library 350 W Georgia Street Vancouver, BC Canada (map)

MODERN WHORE is the critically acclaimed art book capturing writer Andrea Werhun’s experiences as an escort in Toronto, co-created/illustrated by photographer Nicole Bazuin, offering tid-bits of satirical humour while providing poignant insight into a woman’s complex journey with sexuality, empowerment, freedom and whoredom. On October 24, 2018 from 6:30-8:30 PM, following launch events in Toronto, New York City and Montréal, MODERN WHORE comes to Vancouver with a launch at the Vancouver Public Library (350 W Georgia Street) in association with Vancouver sex workers organization PACE Society and hosted by PACE Society’s Community Educator, Caroline Doerksen. MODERN WHORE is published by Virgin Twins, in association with Impulse [b:] Publishing.

“This book defies common stereotypes and visual representations of the ‘prostitute’,” says author Andrea Werhun. “We wanted to create an honest and inside look at the funny, meaningful, disturbing, and erotic aspects of the world’s oldest profession. I did what I know how to do: tell the truth.”

Andrea Werhun will read excerpts from MODERN WHORE at the Vancouver book launch on October 24. Followed by discussion with Werhun and the book’s co-creator/photographer Nicole Bazuin, hosted by PACE Society’s Community Educator, Caroline Doerksen.
