Cosmic Forecast June 2022
June’s astrology is a mixed bag of ten-cent candy, colourful and sweet and a little nostalgic. There are challenges and moments of joy, days of full-hearted freedom and days of deep grief. Gemini is both/and energy. It asks us to experience the full spectrum of the human experience, to taste every flavour that life serves us. We’ve been on this ride the whole time, but June’s cosmic weather encourages us to be more present and accepting of everything we’re going through—as individuals and as a community.
The month opens on the heels of a New Moon in Taurus and Mercury Retrograde in the same sign. Throughout the Retrograde, Saturn has squared Mercury. When Mercury goes direct on June 3rd, it will be almost exactly square with Saturn. This dismount from the Retrograde might feel a little heavy. It will take longer for things to get going again. Saturn's influence is a firm hand on the shoulder, and it asks, “Are you sure this is right for you? Do you think you have enough energy for that?”
You might be stuck on making decisions, and you might feel more stubborn about how you want to spend your time. Try to see “laziness” as a call to self-protection and boundary-setting. There might be a reason you don’t want to do certain tasks, say yes to certain invitations, or put off one of your responsibilities—you just can’t see it yet.
But there’s also so much flow this June. At various points during the month, Venus finds itself in the sign of its rulership, Taurus, while Mercury is at home in Gemini. Mars also moves into its own territory, Aries. With the personal planets travelling through their calmest waters, it will be easier to be sure of ourselves. The universe is mirroring authenticity to us. It’s time to find the spaces where you feel most at home. Do things, purchase things, and engage in relationships that remind you of yourself.
Venus in Taurus helps us connect with our desires and fulfil our physical needs. Mercury in Gemini helps us connect to other people and create more intimacy with ourselves. Mars in Aries helps us become clear about where our ambition wants to take us—for some signs, this could be going out into the world and making waves, and for others, this could be cultivating a really nourishing home life. Each of us will have a unique experience of this combination of transits, as the kaleidoscope of energy casts a different hue on every individual.
Remember, the things that happen to you are a part of you. Don't try to return to some imaginary, purified version of you that is free from the impact of heartbreak and struggle. Embrace all that you are right now: every barnacle that has attached itself to you, every ray of sun that’s warmed the cells on your back, every propeller scratch and shark bite. This isn’t a time to cut and cleanse; it’s a time to include and accumulate.
Saturn is a bit like the fence that keeps our identities intact, while Jupiter pushes us to expand the possibilities of who we can become. Jupiter is still hanging out in Aries and fresh out of the conjunction with Mars at the end of May. At the beginning of June, Jupiter is sextile the Sun (three signs away to the degree). This is a really harmonious aspect and a brilliant cosmic recipe for good luck. Later on, the Full Moon in Sagittarius on the 14th underscores the energy of this transit as Sag is ruled by Jupiter. In Aries, Jupiter helps us feel confident and capable. It helps us see our strengths with more clarity and gives us an opportunity to practice some self-adoration. Every time you work towards your goals, every time you use your talents to feed your soul, you’re giving yourself a divine gift.
With Jupiter and the Sun holding hands, it’s a great time to give yourself words of affirmation and take risks that will help you make your dreams come true. It’s also a good time to encourage others and celebrate their accomplishments. Comparison and envy might come up during this time, and that’s okay. Everyone will be shining just a little more brightly. Give yourself compassion when those feelings come up and transmute them into deep love. Don’t you want the world to be absolutely teeming with beautiful art, writing, dance, music, gardens, families, and homes? We need all the flowers in the field to bloom, not just one or two “exceptional” flowers.
The beginning of Cancer season is, of course, heralded by Midsummer on June 21st. Like the other solstices and equinoxes, Midsummer—also known as Litha—is a sacred threshold. It’s a great day to perform a ritual celebrating abundance and community. In opposition to Yule, Litha is about moving our attention and intention outwards. It’s about having gratitude for the things we can see and touch and making time for socialising. As the month comes to a close, connect with your heart and your inner child. If Gemini season is the party, Cancer season is the quiet ride home, cosy in the back seat of the car. Take all that you’ve learned to love in June and prepare to tend to it, grow it, in July and beyond.
