A Mixed Playlist Inspired By: Sylvie Ringer

Artwork: Sylvie Ringer, Transformer, 2018 (graphite, charcoal, ink and pigment)

In her interview with Elysse Cloma earlier this month, Featured Artist Sylvie Ringer described her interest in the edges of landscape; the spaces that border the unknown and test our perception. She cited twilight as a particularly potent time for altered relationship to place. “It’s the time when your subconscious comes up dream-like,” she said.

The piece chosen to inspire this month’s mixed playlist (Ringer’s Transformer) explores both the mysteries of landscape and its ability to shift our perception of the shapes within. It is dream-like, certainly; one gets the impression that the figure(s) in Ringer’s piece could start to move at any moment. I’m sure they would beckon us deeper into the tree line, if given the chance. This month’s mix is the soundtrack to that dream.

Love,
Sarah B.
