Job Posting: Digital Art Curator

JOB BRIEF

We are looking for an art curator to help elevate the quality of artwork and photography we use online to accompany posts on sadmag.ca.

The successful candidate will be able to find diverse and talented emerging artists, prioritizing work by underrepresented groups including POC, First Nations, and LGBTQ*, to feature on sadmag.ca. Priority should be given to artists from Greater Vancouver, though we also occasionally feature artists from elsewhere in Canada.

The digital art curator will work closely with the web editors to select artwork, and will also create art-driven posts including photo essays and features on local artists.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaising with web team to find appropriate artwork to accompany pieces that need it.

  • Finding up-and-coming artists & photographers to feature on the site.

  • Contacting artists and getting them to sign the proper releases and procuring their work.

  • Sizing artwork to the correct specs for upload.

  • Looking for opportunities to increase the quantity of photo- and art-driven content on sadmag.ca

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Understanding of SAD Mag’s mandate and aesthetic

  • Knowledge of and interest in the creative community in Vancouver

  • Responsive and sensitive to timelines

  • Basic photoshop skills and access to software

 

TIME COMMITMENT 

2-4 hours a week

 

COMPENSATION

As with other SAD staff positions, this is a volunteer role!
